The 905U-K has an internal 900MHz frequency-hopping radio transmitter which operates on a license-free radio band. The 905U-K has an operating range of more than 20 miles (30km). It is suitable for monitoring in utility industries such as electricity, water and gas; and is also a cost effective solution for short range applications in factories and plants. Mode of Operation The 905U-K is compatible with the 905U range of wireless I/O products* - 905U units may be used to output the process signals, or act as a wireless interface connected to a PLC, DCS or PC. The 905U-K transmits the value of its input signals whenever the signal changes, or after a pre-configured update time. Each transmission message includes error-checking to confirm the validity of the message. The 905U-K can be configured to repeat the transmission several times to ensure that the transmission is received correctly. The input signal is output at a 905U unit either as an identical signal or across a serial data link (RS232 or RS485). 905U units may also be used as repeaters to extend the radio range of the 905U-K - up to five intermediate 905U modules may be used as repeaters in any radio path. More than 10,000 905U-K units may operate together in a single system. Extremely Low Power Consumption The power consumption of the 905U-K is very low as it conserves power by reverting to ”sleep” mode between measurements of the input signals and transmissions. The 905U-K can be powered from a 6 - 30 VDC supply. It can also be powered from one or more ELPRO BU-5 battery packs without any other power source. Each battery pack can power the 905U-K for over a year, depending on input signal configuration. The 905U-K unit provides an internal alarm on low supply voltage - this alarm can be transmitted by radio. |

The ELPRO 905U wireless I/O range is easy to use and simple to install. The modules are completely integrated, including micro controller, input/output (I/O) circuits, radio transceiver, RS485/232 serial port and power supply with battery backup facilities. Each module is housed in an industrial strength extruded aluminum case, with plug-in terminal 905U Wireless I/O Modules The 905U modules provide a wireless radio link for discrete (switch contact), pulse/counter and analog signals. The 905U also has a RS485 multidrop serial port, for communications to I/O expansion modules. 105S Serial I/O Modules The 105S serial I/O modules communicate via RS485 multidrop. RS485 is a method of transmitting between many devices using a common twisted pair wire. The maximum length of the wire is typically 4000 feet (1200 m). 105S modules can be used as a dedicated twisted-pair I/O system, or as I/O expansion for 905U modules. Each 905U can connect to up to 31 serial modules. This combination of wireless and serial I/O provides a powerful I/O network for factory automation and process instrumentation. Two-way Communications The 905U internal radio is a transceiver - a transmitter and receiver. Because the 905U can communicate in both directions, each module is capable of both input and output signals. Both monitoring (input) and control (output) functions are provided on 905U and 105S modules. |

The 405U has been designed to be easy to use and simple to install. It uses a low power UHF radio which does not require a radio licence*. The module is fully integrated with radio, power supply, serial ports and microprocessor controller housed in a strong industrial aluminium case. Simple and Reliable The 405U includes a radio transceiver, allowing communications in both directions, so the modules can check and control the transfer of information. The 405U is suitable for both simple and complex systems. It can operate in a transparent mode, where the host devices provide error checking and communications control. For less intelligent host devices, the 405U can provide the addressing, error checking and control of communications. The 405U can also accept Hayes compatible commands for selective addressing. High Speed Wireless Data Host devices can connect to the 405U via RS232 or RS485 serial ports, at data rates up to 38.4Kb. The 405U has two internal buffers of 8Kbytes and the radio can transmit data packages configurable up to 520 bytes, at speeds configurable up to 9600 bits/sec. The 405U radio modem is both low cost and very flexible. |

The CC900TAIL is used as a flexible connection within electrical enclosures that require connecting to a low loss coaxial cables such as LDF4. This kit provides a simple solution to coaxial extensions that require a N-Type (male) connections. The coaxial cable is terminated and tested alleviating time consuming field termination work. Low loss extensions For extensions longer than a CC20/900 (33’/20m) consideration should be given to a low loss coaxial such as LDF4. These types of coaxial cables require connectors designed specifically for the coaxial. Experience is required to terminate this type of cable and the coaxial manufacturer is able to assist. |
