It is used for monitoring low-level pulses (three volts or less) from pulse-generating devices.

Input pulses are counted by a 16-bit counter. 3 kHz is the maximum input signal. Field wiring connections are made through a separate terminal block that plugs in next to the module. This design facilitates module replacement without disconnecting field wiring.
